Darkstar started developing their unique vocoder-ed dubstep back in 2002, referencing 2-step garage and the futuristic "wonky" soundscapes evolving alongside likeminded artists such as Burial. After making a defined statement of intent with the acclaimed releases for MG77 and their own 2010 recordings in 2007, the London-based duo Darkstar was snapped up by Kode9 and Hyperdub records. Their first release, the seminal HDB010 Need You that came out in 2008, recieved strong support from Radiohead and was named Pitchforks Dubstep single of the year. Recently they've also covered Radiohead`s Videotape for a Mary Anne Hobbs compilation, taking it into a new icy electronic direction. Possessing an undeniable compositional talent, Darkstar are making a name for themselves as one of the most interesting producers operating within the ever expanding and mutating parameters of dubstep.They are currently recording their highly anticipated debut album for the revered Hyperdub label and working on their live show.
